Veneto Intermodal and Ursa Major Neo Workshop – 7th and 8th of May – Verona

On the 7th and 8th of May, in Verona will be held two days of workshop about Veneto Intermodal and Ursa Major Neo. Both are EU projects funded by CEF programme. On the morning of the first day, there will be the kick-off meeting of Veneto Intermodal whereas the workshop of Ursa Major Neo will take place during the afternoon of the 7th of May and in the entire following day. During the kick-off meeting of Veneto Intermodal, several thematic will be discussed, focusing especially on the improvement the railway infrastructure of three Italian key nodes: Verona, Padua and Venice. The partners of the project are RFI (the Italian railway infrastructure manager), Consorzio ZAI (the infrastructure manager of the Verona freight village), Veneto Region and Venice Port Authority. Each partner will receive European funds to produce:

  • the final design of the adaptation to the 740 meters standard in the Verona inland terminal;
  • the final design of a railway bridge in the Venice port;
  • the preliminary design of the doubling of the railway line between the freight village and railway station of Padua;
  • the freight-related contents of the Regional Transport Masterplan.

On the other hand, the Ursa Major Neo workshop will deal with current trends in ITS tolls’ deployment to improve traffic management in the ports and in the rail-road terminals and to foster their integration in the TEN-T core network. It will stimulate and strengthen cooperation between the UMneo partners, operators from logistics sector, decision makers, to pave the way towards EU wide harmonization of ITS deployment. The workshop will be organized within the Intermodal Freight working group of UMneo.
