Logistar project introduced at 3PL & Supply Chain Summit: Europe 2018, Düsseldorf, 29-31 October 2018

The 3PL & Supply Chain Summit: Europe is Europe’s annual meeting of the leading C-Level 3PL executives and their CSCO supply chain counterparts. Over 350 senior supply chain and logistics executives attended the event which took place in Düsseldorf from 29 till 31 October 2018.

The Supply Chain Summit: Europe is designed for individuals in the following roles:

  • Chief Supply Chain Officers (CSCOs), Heads of Supply Chain
  • Supply Chain Planning Executives
  • Procurement, Retail & Manufacturing Executives
  • Logistics and Distribution Executives

Different European supply chain leaders like Volker Schmitz (HP), Dirk Holbach (Henkel), Kerry Eby (Johnson Controls) and Ludovic Ménédème (UCB Pharma) were present as speakers.

For 2018 following industry themes were chosen:

  • Win new customers with a digital supply chain
  • Deliver true end-to-end visibility, powered by data, AI and analytics
  • A successful strategy for a strong supply chain
  • Transform your operations for ecommerce success

Out of the 60+ speakers, Logistar partner Ahlers (represented by Tia Meyvis & Kevin Onderbeke in Düsseldorf) presented how big data can be used to optimise the supply chain. The constant waves of digital disruption that are sweeping over the logistics market offer a vast array of possibilities for rapidly improving supply chain operations. In this session, Ahlers explored how LSPs can take advantage of these opportunities. In this story Ahlers also talked about their involvement in the EU research project, Logistar and their work in the optimisation of transport operations in the supply chain by taking advantage of horizontal collaboration. It was shared that a real-time decision-making tool and a real-time visualization tool of freight transport will be developed. From this perspective visibility was created by introducing the Logistar project to a larger logistics audience.

Also networking was a big part of the value the European 3PL & Supply Chain Summit provided. Attendees were invited to follow the Logistar process and become part of the Industry Advisory Board.
